Disrupting Ableism and Advancing STEM: A National Leadership Summit

Although people with disabilities are the largest minority group in the United States, stigma and ableism limit opportunities for disabled people to fully contribute to and be successful in the STEM enterprise.

Please join us for a transformational set of conversations on Disrupting Ableism and Advancing STEM beginning with a National Leadership Summit on June 5, 2023. We will explore issues related to the accessibility and inclusivity of STEM workplaces for persons with disabilities.

Topics will include:

  • Creating Disability-Inclusive Workforces and Workplaces
  • Exploring the Power and Importance of Mentorship
  • Cultivating Accessible Educational Pathways and Spaces
  • Rooting out Bias and Barriers

Presentations and discussions will take asset-based and intersectional approaches to understanding the experiences of persons with disabilities across all STEM workplaces. The event on June 5 will be held both in person in Washington D.C. and on-line.  Additional events in June will be held on-line. All events will include an ASL interpreter and CART interpretation. Slides and electronic documents will be shared online.
