About this Session

The workshop will explore how super intelligence (SI) could transform the planning, prioritization, management, and assessment of science and technology (S&T) research portfolios, particularly within the Department of War and its military services. Discussions will examine current approaches to constructing and evaluating S&T portfolios, identifying critical information gaps and decision-making challenges, and considering how emerging SI capabilities could support more informed and responsive investment strategies. Potential topics include SI-assisted synthesis of technical literature, portfolio data, intelligence, commercial technology developments, patents, funding trends, and technology maturity information. The workshop will also explore applications of SI for portfolio optimization, scenario analysis, and identifying potential duplication, underinvestment, or research investments that may no longer align with strategic priorities. Particular attention will be given to the opportunities and limitations of SI-supported decision-making and the appropriate balance between SI-generated recommendations and human expertise and judgment.
