Elizabeth A. Armstrong is the Sherry B. Ortner Collegiate Professor of Sociology at the University of Michigan. Armstrong's research focuses on the reproduction of gender, class, and race inequalities. With Sandra Levitsky and other colleagues, Armstrong is working to document and explain variation in university responses to sexual violence in a rapidly changing legal, political, and cultural environment. This project is a large, multi-year, multi-method project involving the construction and analysis of a quantitative data set and qualitative field work.
