Short Bio
Melissa Eggleston has 15 years of experience as a user experience (UX) professional. In 2023, she received the Customer Experience Trailblazer Award from Service to the Citizen for her inclusive and trauma-informed research with the American public on websites related to 988, our national suicide hotline. In 2017, she won the Aquent Design for Good grant to apply trauma-informed principles to a domestic violence agency website. She has helped design specifically for people who have experienced interpersonal violence, human trafficking, substance use disorder, physical disabilities, and serious mental illness. Melissa received her Master’s from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has been teaching UX to graduate students there since 2019. She is now pursuing her doctorate in design at North Carolina State, focusing on the intersection of trauma and technology.
