Kait Spear, MPP, is a Program Officer with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. She serves as the responsible staff officer for the Response and Evaluation Working Groups within the Action Collaborative on Preventing Sexual Harassment in Higher Education. Spear has a robust background in sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) work, interpersonal violence and intimate partner violence (IPV) prevention, and trauma mitigation. Prior to working at NASEM, she served as a Senior Research Associate at NORC at the University of Chicago. She brings a focus on community engagement and culturally responsive approaches to her work, with a particular emphasis on women and the LGBTQIA+ community. Kait received her Master in Public Policy degree from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Medicine, Health, and Society, Psychology, and Women’s and Gender Studies from Vanderbilt University.
