Advancing Community Engagement by Using a Universal Protocol Template (UPT)

Please join the National Academies on January 22, 2025, for a webinar introducing and exploring a newly developed form for people who engage in research involving animals. This form, created to serve as a foundational resource, outlines the minimum requirements for an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) protocol, providing clarity and utility for researchers and institutions. While not endorsed or mandated by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) or Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW), it is offered as a valuable tool to support best practices.

The webinar will feature presentations and discussions to demonstrate the form’s application, highlight its key features, and engage participants in meaningful dialogue about its use.

This event is hosted in collaboration with the Roundtable on Science and Welfare of Animals Involved in Research, a collaborative body under the Board on Animal Health Science, Conservation, and Research of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
