Short Bio
Elissa L. Perry is a Professor in the Social Organizational Psychology Program at Teachers College, Columbia University. She received her Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology and Theory from Carnegie Mellon University. Elissa’s research focuses on the role of demographic characteristics (age, gender, generational membership, disability, race) in human resource judgments and organizational outcomes. She is also interested in applying evidence-based strategies (training, climate, inclusive leadership) to the practice of diversity management and the creation of inclusive workplaces. Elissa’s book with Carol T. Kulik, Human Resources for the Non-HR Manager (www.NonHRManager.com, Routledge 2023) provides managers with evidence-based information and advice related to their people management activities. Elissa is a member of the Academy of Management and the American Psychological Association (Division of Industrial Organizational Psychology) and frequent reviewer for academic journals. She has consulted to educational, nonprofit, and for-profit institutions. She has also served as a consultant to lawyers and journalists interested in diversity related issues.
