The National Academies Forum on Advancing Diagnostic Excellence will host a hybrid public workshop on October 14, 2025 to explore opportunities to improve diagnosis in rural areas in the United States. The workshop will cover delivery of patient-centered care, strategies to reduce access barriers for rural populations, the role of technologies and diagnostic innovations in improving diagnosis, professional education and development to reduce diagnostic delays, and strategies for enhancing diagnostic excellence in rural areas that can be adapted to other underserved areas.
