Guardrails and Governance for the Demonstration and Deployment of Emerging GHG Removal Approaches

Webinar 2: Guardrails and Governance for the Demonstration and Deployment of Emerging GHG Removal Approaches – Tues. Sept. 2 at 1pm ET.

As greenhouse gas (GHG) removal technologies move toward larger-scale demonstration and deployment, questions of governance and oversight become increasingly urgent. Join the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine for a webinar examining the current consensus on guardrails and governance frameworks for GHG removal, including efforts to refine and evolve these systems. Speakers will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of existing governance models, draw lessons from climate intervention governance experiences, and explore how these insights intersect with permitting reform and siting considerations for energy infrastructure. The moderator for this conversation will be Holly Buck, and panelists will include: Emily Grubert, Jessica Smith, and Shuchi Talati.
