Clinical Preventive Services for Addressing Cardiovascular Disease Risk to Reduce Pregnancy-related Deaths Among Women: Report Webinar

Join the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine on May 7 for a public webinar on its new report, Protecting Maternal Heart Health: Prevention and Care Before, During, and After Pregnancy. The report will be released on April 21 and examines clinical preventive services to reduce pregnancy-related cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.

Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of pregnancy-related death in the United States, and more than 75 percent of pregnancy-related cardiovascular deaths are considered potentially preventable. The report offers recommendations to improve care before, during, and after pregnancy and between pregnancies, strengthen health systems, and build the evidence base for prevention.

During the webinar, members of the authoring committee will discuss the report’s key findings and recommendations and answer questions from the audience, including:

• Tracy A. Lieu (committee chair), Kaiser Permanente Northern California; JAMA

• Thomas E. Dobbs, University of Mississippi Medical Center

• Cornelia R. Graves, University of Tennessee

• Janet Wei, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center
