Resilient America Roundtable Meeting # 25
As disasters increasingly affect society, there is a pressing need to enhance the nation's resilience to them. Key to this effort is establishing a clear understanding of baseline resilience for systems and communities. Developing such baselines entails analyzing ecological, technical, economic, and social systems. Resilience assessment employs a range of qualitative and quantitative approaches, and different indices have been developed to evaluate resilience within particular domains. However, no comprehensive framework integrates these various domains and methodologies. Researchers will discuss the state of the science on resilience measurement approaches and frameworks across system types (such as physical, social, organizational, and cyber), and explore high-priority research areas needed to develop a more comprehensive resilience quantification framework.
