Rigorous by Design: Strengthening Research That Involves Animals

The second webinar in the Global Dialogues on Laboratory Animal Science webinar series will explore practical approaches to strengthening scientific rigor, reproducibility, and confidence in research that involves animals. The discussion will consider how decisions made before data collection, as well as during study design, execution, analysis, reporting, and interpretation, affect the quality and reliability of research findings.

Topics will include evaluating existing evidence before initiating new studies; using planning tools such as PREPARE and the Experimental Design Assistant; accounting for key biological variables, including sex as a biological variable; and applying reporting frameworks such as ARRIVE 2.0 and RIVER. Speakers will share practical strategies for improving the transparency, reliability, and reproducibility of research that involves animals.
