Exploration Geophysics for Energy and Natural Resources: Committee on Solid Earth Geophysics Fall 2026 Meeting 2026

Exploration geophysics is often associated with oil and gas, but its tools and expertise are used across a much wider set of subsurface challenges, including critical minerals, geothermal energy, carbon storage, groundwater, and environmental applications. This meeting will discuss the methods, institutions, workforce pathways, and emerging frontiers of exploration geophysics. Speakers will discuss how geophysical data are acquired and interpreted, how technical innovation moves between academia and industry, and how the field is evolving in response to changing energy, resource, and societal needs.
