Extreme Heat and Health: Ramanathan Climate Conversation 2026

Extreme heat is an escalating global challenge, with regions across North America, Africa, Europe, and Asia experiencing their hottest July on record this year. As the climate continues to warm and heatwaves become more frequent and intense, elevated nighttime temperatures, high humidity, and urban heat islands further increase risks to human health. Drawing on lessons from South Asia, Europe, and the U.S., this discussion will explore the human health impacts of extreme heat, community adaptation strategies, and innovative solutions that can build preparedness in a warming world.

The fifth annual Ramanathan Climate Conversation will take place at the National Academy of Sciences in collaboration with the National Academy of Medicine (NAM). Registration and doors open at 4:00 PM.
