In this meeting, cross-sector leaders from research, operations, emergency management, and user communities, together with experts in social and behavioral sciences, technology, and communication, will examine how weather information can be more effectively created, developed, shared, interpreted, and updated collaboratively to maximize public value. Starting with the information and decision needs of those who create, provide, or use information at each stage of the weather information system, the meeting will explore opportunities to strengthen two-way connections among the observing, modeling, forecasting, communication, and decision-support communities. This includes understanding the requirements that each part of the system places on those that provide the information it relies upon. Through examples of both successes and persistent challenges, participants will examine where information flows work well, where important gaps remain, and how feedback from requirements, decisions, and outcomes can improve the system upstream.
